Forever

By an ancient river meandering through an old city
Every once in a while
Wandering souls will pause,
In a timeless moment of togetherness.

There, floating on the wind,
Moments from centuries ago
Whisper in willing ears
The story of a king mourning his love.

  13. nice poem! I love your style of photography - you seem to notice the beauty in such everyday, simple things that it tells me that you're probably a deep person. btw, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog :)

  14. Kavita: Thank you. Nothing deep as such, but yes, there're beauty to be had in the little things in life, maybe there's more of the little things than the big ones.

  15. A beautiful picture capturing the ephemeral quality of love itself, frozen in a monument.

And such beautiful words mourning the loss of that love.

  16. Anil, here's the answer to my question. You are a poet! Another lovely poem and just the right image to illustrate it. Your poetry is very lyrical.

  17. Neat picture and poem!

Question, though: If the wind is whispering, wouldn't there be "whispers" in willing ears and not a mere single whisper?

  18. Raji Muthukrishnan: Thank you. If only it were not so ephemeral!

Sarah Laurence: This coming from you I need to wonder seriously if I'm one. Maybe am an occasional poet for it does not come to me easily :)

    Thank you.

Ari Herzog: Thank you. It's not the wind that whispers, but moments which whisper.

  19. Occasional or not, I feel you have the gift of poetry. Those lines are beautiful by virtue of their depth of feeling - and creating the mournful atmosphere of loss.
