He got off the train at Khed and headed for the exit where bougainvillea in mid-leap awaited him on his way out.
Soon we left them behind as we converged into the mountains in the far distance.
But before we made for the horizon we would first cross rivers. Many rivers.

bouganvillia in mid leap - thats so true. Where are you going - can i come with? sounds exciting!
Yes. Some in spate. Some gurgling below new bridges. But between the orange bougainvillae and the Kokan green, peacefully, sometimes frothing white in excitement, looking forward to meeting the sea !
Many kinds of rivers to cross....
I hope you enjoyed India Day!
Val: Sure, only this was from an earlier trip! If you're visiting India, drop a line.
Ugich Konitari: And this is the right time to take that train down the Konkan Railway.
Grannymar: Very much so. Thank you.
Happy independence day, Anil.
And sure I'll come along if you are taking train for Konkan.
Nisha: Thanks. Wish you the same.
Sure, you're welcome to come along.
The tracks this year have been in worse shape than anyone can remember except when they first started off.
That's a beautiful photo of the river!
I wondered if the recent accident affected you in anyway, on the railway (can't remember where) since it was all over the news here in the states.
Glad to see all is well! Cheers!
Coffee Messiah: Thank you.
Am safe and sound. Thanks for asking.
There were two incidents. The worse of the two was perpetrated by Maoist (Communist) guerillas who cut the tracks away, putting the derailed train in the path of an oncoming train. Close to 200 perished in it.
Great pics! I have missed reading your posts.
Thanks for that little bit of information. Did not hear that, which is strange for the media here not to report.
Sometimes we forget these activities/groups still perpetuate sadness on innocents in other parts of the World! ; (
Riot Kitty: Thank you. Always encouraging to hear this sentiment.
Coffee Messiah: Of late the Indian Govt. is investigating Pakistan's rogue Intelligence Agency, ISI, attempts to step in here as well and use the Maoists to inflict violence on Indian citizens.
Simple,beautiful.
Happy independence day.
There is style in everything you do!
Glad to know that at least to one person 15 August was "not just another day"
Lovely pictures :)
Dr. Anthony: Thank you :-) Hope you had a memorable Independence Day as well.
Amrita: It'll never be "just another day" ever. Thank you.

Nona: Thanks.
Gauri Gharpure: Thank you.
