Shub Labh

After a long time I returned to Havalgi early this year, back to the blue door and the quiet sky. The Bhima shimmered in the distance like before, and I watched the river with another's eyes this time around, renewing my memories of the old, and looking forward to the new.

When everything comes to an end, everything has to start anew. It is the way of the world.

It is good to begin the new year on this reflective mood. Nothing is the same, the eyes that perceive and the mind that grapples is always shifting - the dynamics of life hinges on this flux. Thanks for setting me think. Happy New Year.

To Uma: Happy New Year to you too.

Liked the picture very much specially the door. :))
Those colorful plastic 'matkas' or 'ghadas' are life of south india. Never seen in any other part.

Happy New Year to you. Will come later to read the part II of Nilgiris.

That was a very profound post and I love, love your blue door photo!

To Anan: The occasion was such, hence the name. I thought the words on the wall 'Shub Labh' matched the occasion perfectly.

To Cuckoo: Thank you. Before they used to be of copper, even now they are, especially when used to draw water from deep wells. The plastic ones would not last the impact on the walls as they're drawn up by the ropes.

Wish you a happy new year too.

To Deana: Thank you :) Some doors look inviting even if they're locked.

You should hold a photography exhibition, if you haven't done so already. I really enjoy the photos you post on your blog, besides the vivid writing.

To a new year of experiences...

To Art: Thank you. I did participate in a Group Exhibition showcasing the Visual Arts. That was sometime ago. I'm planning on one, hopefully soon. You can check my new blog, solely dedicated to the photographs I've been taking on my travels. The link is provided on this blog.

To Deepa: Happy New year to you too. I keep off posting until the spur of the moment, so I'm not aware myself what the post is going to be until it's time to write it :)

To Chiefbiscuit: Thank you.

To Seamus: Thanks. India is very layered, with each layer having its own reality, and photographs, sometimes, convey it.

To Vivek: Thank you :) Very True. I'll surely post it if I were to hold one anytime soon.

To Elizabeth: Thanks. Wish you a happy new year.

Hi Anil,
I love this welcome home photo.
I think I already thanked you for visiting my blog a week or two ago, but I'd rather do so twice than not at all.
Happy New Year!

Hi Anil
...the feet stopped as I did. It is indeed a delightful feast spread across to me, by a frail bend of the forest, I stopped for a while in disbelief, as the forest murmurs with more a pleasant surprise ahead...I am mesmerised, a tiny curvaveous bend has the bundle of nerves to terminate my journey forever!

I stumbled upon your space when I was googling...have still not explored ur space fully yet, but found myself mystified by the images...how cruel u can be, you trapped her, the nature at her most pleasant moods...

“Whose are the little beds,” I asked,
“Which in the valleys lie?”
Some shook their heads, and others smiled,
And no one made reply.
"Perhaps they did not hear,” I said;
“I will inquire again.
Whose are the beds, the tiny beds
So thick upon the plain?”
“’T is daisy in the shortest;
A little farther on,
Nearest the door to wake the first,
Little leontodon....

wishing you fresher seasons full of intriguingly mind-numbing devilish excitors from Mother loam and serene skies above....Jyotsna

Hallo Anil: Thanks for dropping by. Oh yes, plenty of things have been knocked in to me but none of these was - alas - sense. Ufff I am too vulgar; I think I was born spitting profanities at the doctor.

Oh. Nice be-log beta.

hi there..thx for visiting my blog..not sure how u came across it but appreciate ur comments nonetheless.

im not quite sure what u meant in ur comment on my post called "pleasant acquaintance"..

however with regards to ur comment on "identity" what i wud like to say in response is that i agree when u say one must be accomodating and that is the whole point of my post...relationships, regardeless of their nature demand that they be handeled with commitement and understanding...and i personally dont feel its that hard to inculcate these two things into our relationships, given we want them to be successful.

..apart from that i must let u know that u have kept a beautiful blog. From what iv read so far iv had the pleasure of knowing more about places in India that are unknown to me. Thx for that

...btw happy new year :)

To Charu: Thank you. Wish you a happy new year too.

To Jyothsna: A bend in the road is where the same road takes a different character, opening up new landscapes because the bend hides those you passed before coming upon it :)

Thank you.

To Mridula: Thank you, and wish you the same.

To Anon: Only time will tell if what looked like sense was really so.

To Bharat Jhurani: Thanks, visit again.

To Simriti: Thank you. Identity evolves because we understand it differently as time passes.

Anil, thanks for your visit to Istanbul Daily Photo. This photo is stunning. Is the other side of this door as much as colorful as outside?

Oya: I never got to see the other side. I would be as colourful except for the light which I believe will be dark on the inside.
